Clotheslines are no longer common in modern society and in some cases are banned in cities. In a way, making it an act of protest.
Including an inflatable pool tube and beach towel along side the clothesline (that can be abstractly interpreted as a beach umbrella) brings climate change into the conversation, as it is dismissed by politicians and monopolies. Being told that we and future generations will be fine, that everything is under control and that we must enjoy and even indulge ourselves as distraction.
The figure is a stand in for the abuse of the earth/mother nature. Though, as everything is interconnected, it can also be seen to touch on societal expectations between women and domesticity.
